Lake Region Enterprise Center

Hawley Silk Mill

Ecoledge is working with community members and economic development organizations to create a business incubator to serve Pike and Wayne Counties.

The Lake Region Enterprise Center (LREC) is considering the Hawley Silk Mill Adaptive Reuse Project as the location for the facility. Our team is working with regional development organizations to create a new sustainable regionally focused economic model based on community benefit, energy efficiency, smart building, reusing existing materials, and alternative energy.

Initially LREC hopes to attract internet application and technology start-ups.  Biotech, robotics, and alternative energy are other industries the facility would like to developt.  The Enterprise Center is utilizing a unique hub and spoke design with a core facility located in Hawley and several satellite centers through northeastern Pennsylvania.  The satellite centers will each offer a different industry or business sector focus.

Additional plans for the Silk Mill Campus include a coffee shop in the small “Cocoon" building, a local Bounty of the Region produce market.

Hawley Medical Center

Ecoledge Provides Business Development Services for Medical Center

In 2007, Hawley residents determined that the community needed to incorporate additional medical facilities in town.  Faced with a growing population, a large seasonal population during the summer months, growing specialty camps and local medical offices operating at capacity, a concerned group of citizens identified an urgent care facility as a critical need for the community.  Such a facility would supplement the current primary care practices and offer after hours emergency care.  Supported by local physicians, a group was formed with the goal of finding an appropriate facility and attracting an urgent care practice to Hawley.  It wasn't long before an empty lot became available at the corner of Hudson and Spruce/Main offering a prime location for a medical facility.  After two years of planning, Hudson Street, LLC broke ground and construction started on June 11th, 2009.

Ecoledge was hired to provide business development services for the project and to conduct an active search for an urgent care practice.  The 6400 square foot building, quickly found its first tenant with Comprehensive Physical Therapy leasing the first floor totaling 3200 square feet.
